Ports Authority Confirms Opening of Seven Terminals

The Ports Authority of the Velocity Interoperability Network today confirmed the opening arrangements for the seven terminals it takes into management on establishment. The Southbank Container Terminal, the Southbank General Cargo Terminal and the Southbank Ferry Terminal open on Monday 7 September 2026; the Northgate Bulk Terminal and the Northgate Liquid Bulk Jetty on Tuesday 8 September; the Meridian Basin Terminal on Wednesday 9 September; and Westbrook Wharf on Thursday 10 September. Vessels already alongside on those dates continue to be worked without interruption.

Together the seven terminals provide seventeen berths and 3,540 metres of quay, served by eight ship-to-shore gantry cranes, five mobile harbour cranes, two grab unloaders and 288 refrigerated container points. The register of terminals, the length, depth and equipment of every berth, and the hours during which vessels are worked and gates are open are set out on the Terminals page of this site. The register will be kept up to date as arrangements change.

The Eastfield Reach Terminal, a two-berth container terminal now under construction, is recorded in the register as forthcoming; its opening date will be announced in the Newsroom once it is fixed.
